Yen, Swiss franc benefit as dollar falls on U.S.-China conflict and economic fears

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 62%. (I'm a bot)
London - The dollar fell on Monday, after reaching its lowest since September 2018 overnight, as deteriorating U.S.-China relations and concerns about the U.S. economy saw investors look to the yen and Swiss franc as safe havens.
With domestic economic concerns trumping its role as a safe-haven currency, the dollar index fell overnight, steadied in the early hours of the morning, then continued its descent.
At 1058 GMT, the dollar index was at 93.777, down 0.6% on the day =USD. As COVID-19 infections show no signs of slowing in the U.S., investors are doubtful of a quick economic recovery.
With the dollar's role as safe haven in question, the Japanese yen and Swiss franc strengthened, suggesting that investors are seeking safety elsewhere.
Versus the dollar, the Swiss franc reached a five-year high of 0.9167 overnight CHF=EBS. The dollar lost 0.8% against the yen, which strengthened to a four-month high of 105.265 JPY=EBS. "Under a general dollar sell-off environment the yen is benefiting as a safe-haven currency," said Neil Jones, head of FX sales at Mizuho, adding that month-end flows were also playing a role.
"Markets are potentially looking for risk aversion currencies, and this seems to be a discretionary switch away from dollar into the yen and the Swiss franc," he said.

Started from the bottom and I finally made it! My tips for new traders starting.

A little background, 23 year old dude from Singapore with IT background (Ethical hacker), friend introduced me to Forex which he eventually quit but I didn't. I love challenges and now I plan on taking up Forex trading as a career apart from my passive income jobs.
When I first started trading, I was frustrated! I had so many unanswered questions, why do I keep getting stopped out? Why are my profits so low? Why was my trades always going opposite only once I opened. Is my broker trading against me? So I paused and walked away from the charts for a few weeks, in that break I took it upon myself to understand more about Forex before opening the charts again and here is what I learned. Mind you, I did not buy any course or Indicators! All I did was read articles on the internet, watch a ton of YouTube videos and tried almost all indicators .

Here we go, my tips. These are based on my views
  1. UNDERSTAND BANKS AND BIG FINANCIALS INSTITUTIONS MOVES THE MARKET - No retail traders will be able to move the market like how the Big Banks move the market. You need to understand how banks move smart money and dumb money.(Will explain more later in the post)
  2. STOP SEARCHING FOR THE HOLY GRAIL - No indicators is going to tell you where is the best entry or best exit. They often lag and are behind time so by the time you enter a trade, the trend has already moved a certain percentage causing you to lose precious pips that you could have gotten as profits. Instead look at the charts to search for "low risk, high probability trades" (Will explain more later in the post)
  3. LOOK OUT FOR NEWS (fundamentals) - Big impact news move the markets with big moves, don't get stopped out because you entered at the wrong time without knowing that there is a high impact news in a few minutes/hours. It might hurt your account badly even through you have a stop-loss. Understand the nature of the news and how it will impact the currency.
  4. DO NOT CHASE PROFITS - Chasing profits will be the number one reason you blow your account because no amount of money will satisfy you, you will always want more. Trust me, I've been there and done that . Instead start looking at percentage earned and loss, because in Forex you need money to make money. Lets say you have a target of 5% a month, with a $1000 account that is only $50 and doesn't seem significant but do that with a $100,000 account and you will get $5000 every month. I think you will get it by now. You can't just open a $1000 account and expect to be a millionaire in 1 month. Greed will take over you and you will blow every account you open.
  5. DO NOT OVER LEVERAGE YOU ACCOUNT - By over leveraging you will be able to open larger lot sizes and you will feel good that you can use less money to earn more profit! Then you will start trading, say you profited your first trade and you feel good about yourself. Profited your second trade and feel even better. So you go bigger in the third trade, and guess what? You lost this trade. And this one loss is enough to wipe out your whole $1000 account.
  6. MORE TRADES DOES NOT GIVE YOU MORE PROFITS - As a trader you should understand not every trade will turn out positive, there will always be negative trades. And at times you can have more negative trade than positive but still end up with profits at the end of the week? This is where quality over quantity trades comes in play. Lets say for example you had 4 losing trades and 2 winning trades, your losing trades are 2% each and your winning trades are 8% each, add them up and you will still have 8% profit. This is also a very important part called risk management. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND RISK MANAGEMENT ELSE YOU WILL ALWAYS FAIL IN FOREX.
  7. NEVER CHASE THE MARKET - Markets move 24/7 from Monday 5 AM to Saturday 5 AM (Singapore time, GMT+8). There will be plenty of opportunity to enter the market. You don't always need to have an open position during this time to feel like a trader. Smart traders look for the best opportunity to enter the market at certain levels. Missed an opportunity, don't worry! There will always be another opportunity, trust me! By chasing the market and always trying to open a position, it will only cause you to blow out your account faster.
  8. PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE - I can't place more emphasis on this point. Once you have analysed the market and placed your trade, be patient and let the market work for you. By you sitting at the screen 24/7, the trade is not going to go by your way magically. Remember Bulls will Profit, Bears will profit, only Pigs will get slaughtered! Don't let greed eat you alive.

Now lets talk about the "low risk, high probability" trades and how I trade. Trading is easy, if you take some time to understand it.

How I trade? That's a simple question. I use supply and demand together with fundamentals. I keep my charts clean off indicators. I know I know as soon as I say supply and demand, some of you are going to be like supply and demand doesn't exist in the currency market. But I hope you understand this are my views.
Supply and Demand
Supply and demand levels are zones that tend to be tested again and again till its broken creating another level for supply and demand. You are basically trading against the trend and I know people will be scared and think I'm dumb for saying. But once I learned this theory and started practicing it, I kicked myself in the bum for being so dumb all this while. This zones are also known for when banks throw large amount of money into the market. Bank traders do not have their screen cluttered with tons of indicators like retail trades who is just in search for the holy grail. They practice supply and demand. Let me put it in a easier context, It is basically buying a currency at wholesale and selling it at a retail price. People always practice this everyday in life like buying more of a certain item just because it is on discount at a supermarket but I don't understand why they neglect it when it comes to Forex. It is no different here in the markets. I am not going to say no more, as I want you to google more about it and understand it yourself, that is the best way you will learn better. Watch YouTube videos, read articles, see how bankers trade, understand why they place the trade.
Also understand that there is no supply and demand in lower time frame like M1 or M5, its just noise. For myself, I use H1/H4/D1.
I make 100-200 pips per week and that is enough for me currently, Remember don't be greedy.
However when there is news events, supply and demand may be ignored due to the nature of how fundamentals affect the market differently. Understand the difference and with that I have came to the end.
Remember to treat yourself once in awhile when you do good each month, You will enjoy trading better. Let me tell you the best part about trading, is that you can work from anywhere in the world, be your own boss and never be pressured by anyone.
If you have made it this far, I thank you for taking your time to read this thread. This may be your first step to success.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND HAPPY TRADING

Is forex right for my prediction model?

I am a masters student and have a prediction model that relies on open and close data
My model relies on variation throughout the day from open to close. Then I process this information
My issue is, if forex is 24/5. Is there a time of the day where I can process yesterdays data before the open of the new day?
I am considering limiting myself to certain trading times, e.g. time the NY market is open
However is there historic data available that only records open and close times for one market rather then the whole day
I do not like that: Because it give me no time to process, and I need at least 2 hours of time The close is derived from prices prevailing at 17:00 NY. The following trading day’s open price is determined by the first trade that occurs after 17:00:00 NY
ps I am just a guy with an idea who wants to make some money. I have no background in forex but I am not an idiot. All I want to do is paper test and demo trade for at least a year, but I need to answer these questions before I can do anything

Chaos in trading sessions

Every website I look at seems to have different times for different trading sessions
For example the Sydney session:
Babypips: 7 am to 4 pm local time
Admiral Markets: 10 pm - 6 am Berlin time (today) ~ 8 am - 4 pm local time
Oanda: 10 pm - 7 am GMT (today) ~ 9 am - 6 pm local time
... and so on for other sessions and other websites.
So, WTF? What are the actual trading sessions?
EDIT:
Another one: according to babypips the London session is from 8 am to 4 pm local time, but according to Oanda it's 8 am to 5 pm local time ...

****UPDATE: I decided to post that conversation out of frustration in the moment but since there's been so much support and feedback here's some more details.
The app was suspended on 5/30, this was the email:
After review, Bit Trainer – A Live Cryptocurrency Simulator, has been suspended and removed from Google Play as a policy strike because it violates the spampolicy by posting repetitive content.
Next Steps
  1. Read through the Spampolicy for more details and examples of policy violations.
  2. Make sure your app is compliant with all other policies listed in the Developer Program Policies. Remember that additional enforcement could occur if there are further policy issues with your apps.
  3. Sign in to your Play Consoleand submit the policy compliant app using a new package name and a new app name.
Additional suspensions of any nature may result in the termination of your developer account, and investigation and possible termination of related Google accounts. If your account is terminated, payments will cease and Google may recover the proceeds of any past sales and/or the cost of any associated fees (such as chargebacks and transaction fees) from you.
If you’ve reviewed the policy and feel this suspension may have been in error, please reach out to our policy support team. One of my colleagues will get back to you within 2 business days.
Regards,
The Google Play Review Team
THIS WAS MY RESPONSE:
Our app was suspended for "Repetitive content violates our Spampolicy "
Our app is a educational tool. It is designed to help people learn how to trade cryptocurrency without the risk. it simulates the process using real time prices. As of right now our app does not contain any posting of "content". It is currently being used in Old Dominion University as part of their crypto currency curriculum.
BASED ON THE SPAM POLICY PAGE
-Message Spam, does not apply becuse our app does not send SMS, email, or other messages.
-Webviews and Affiliate Spam, our app does not drive affiliate traffic to a website or provide a webview of a website. every single page in our app is designed from scratch and the information provided on each page is obtained via the exchanges api based on thier guidelines.
-Wizard Spam, our app was not created by an automated tool or wizard service. Again every single page was designed from scratch by our team and built the Monaca platform.
-Guides, our app is not a guide and serves no ads.
Our app contains 8 pages.
  1. Watchlist, a page to add the cryptocurrencies that you want to keep track of, similar to dozens of other apps on the market like tab trader, blockfolio or cointracker.
  2. Trading, similar to Forex Game, the main function of our app. It let's you use the credits we provide to simulate purchasing the available cryptocurrency of your choice.
  3. Selling, where you sell what you purchased on the trading screen
  4. Leaderboard, all users are displayed and ranked based on how well they do trading.
  5. Wallet, this is where you see all of the currency you are holding, and your transaction history.
  6. Global Market, This screen shows all the coins on the market based on Coinmarketcap API
  7. Earn Credits, where you can play a simple game to earn more credit when you run out.
  8. Coin converter, a simple calculator that let's you get the values of different currencies, no different from any other cryptocurrency converter on the market.
THEY RESPONDED WITH:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting the Google Play team.
After review, we've confirmed our initial decision and we won't be reinstating your app Bit Trainer – A Live Cryptocurrency Simulator at this time.
Repetitive content violates ourSpampolicy and is prohibited on Google Play.
Developers are important partners in maintaining a great user experience on Google Play and we appreciate your cooperation.
If you do choose to re-publish a new version of your app, please review the Developer Program Policiesto make sure your app is compliant with our policies.
Regards,LindaThe Google Play Team
After that I wrote back with a bunch of question, several times, had about 5 live chat sessions that went the exact same way.
UPDATE: I sent two messages one to the general help and the second one was directly back to Linda who had responded to the first suspension appeal and here are the responses I got.
FROM MY MESSAGE TO LINDA: Hi developers at Hashtiv, Thanks again for contacting Google Play Team.
As much as I'd like to help, our team is unable to provide information to your inquiry.
Instead, please refer to the following links for further assistance: Developer Program Policies
Thank you for your understanding and continued support for Google Play.
Regards,
Lisa The Google Play Team
AND THE OTHER: Hi there,
I'm happy to help you with issues related to publishing and distributing apps through the Play Console. At this time, my team is not able to provide information about policy enforcement decisions. I forwarded your question to the appropriate team at Google, and you can expect to hear from them soon. If you have questions about using the Play Console, please let me know.

USDJPY - 2 and a half hours left.

I know this seems horribly arbitrary (I've tested other things, this worked best), but we close USDJPY 30 mins before the swaps credit (10 pm GMT).
We usually see the market squeeze sellers hard in the next couple hours. 106.66 is current price. We're at a high. This can break in a big move up, and this is where sellers get stopped out and reverse long. Big mistake. We should do exactly the opposite.

We bank 30 mins before the swap, and then usually reverse 45 mins after for the dip into London.

I've gave a fuller walk through of this sort of move in this post. https://www.reddit.com/Forex/comments/cufic1/strat_for_50_100_a_year_more_details_first_trade/

EDIT: This gave a close of 16 pips from the high of the day. I think our buy was about 10 pips from the low of the day.

GunnerMC'S Staff Application

GunnerMC's Staff App

GunnerMC's Staff Application Enjoy.
IGN: GunnerMC (https://namemc.com/profile/GunnerMC.1)
Age: 17 (27/02/2001)
Timezone: GMT (+0) - England
Past experience: I would say I am a fairly experienced player. I have really only been staff on one HCF like server, VeltPvP around 1 or 2 years ago. From this experience I learned my things, how to understand people and their situations from their perspective. I learnt how to screen share and deal with different types of players. I think this is a very important skill to understand how to work with different types of players and staff, because this can help yourself out trying to help another person.I also understand how to deal with large groups of people. From this experience, I had learnt to communicate with players better. I have been staff on a few other servers but they was not HCF/Soup related, 2 Faction servers, a vanilla server, as well as a prison server. All of these servers had a small player base of around 100-300. I learnt from this experience how to communicate with different people, e.g less mentally able people, younger people and toxic players. I fully believe these skills are very important because being a staff member consists of dealing with a variety of players, sometimes in big groups.
What can you bring to our server: I think I can bring a positive outcome to the server, helping it out as much as I can. I would like to take this opportunity and try become apart of the team. I want to be a person that people can look up to. I am fairly known on the server, I have played for a few months actively, although I have been on the server back in 2013. I feel like I am fit for the position and would like to be given a chance. I think I would enjoy being a staff member than playing on the server, also I think this experience would benefit myself as a whole, by meeting new people, improving my personality, learning new skills and generally helping other people. I would also would like to be staff because I can see a lack of staff, and I think I could be the extra staff member to help out the team and build a all round strong staff team. I really feel like I can make a difference, positively to the server, benefiting myself and the server. During my time of playing Chain, or any other server, there are always cheaters in the game. Although there will always be cheaters in this game, I want to try my best and get rid of these people and help the people who have been affected by them cheaters. Even if a player is being rude or disrespectful to me, I would never be rude back to them - everyone is treated equally. If I get accepted, I hope to put a lot of effort into this server, making the biggest change I can, I never waste time or be lazy. I want to gain trust from the higher staff, giving my self a positive reputation for myself and showing a good role model. I have a good knowledge of how to be a staff member and like said before, how to communicate with different characters and personalities. I understand psychology and how different people work. I personally think this is an essential skill, because every staff member should understand different people, for example why someone does something. I am a very honest person, I know that being truthful will make myself prepared for any issues that can occur and I understand I should not lie to anyone, staff member or player. If I make any sort of mistake, I will be fully responsible and own up to that mistake, even if it leads to some sort of demotion, I would never not say something that I have done wrong to stop me getting punished, because I know eventually someone is going to find out and the consequences will be even worse. I understand I must take full responsibility for my actions and try to resolve any problems I have caused. This element of a staff member is key because I understand we are left with a lot of responsibility. I think I can understand people better than others, for example if someone is in a bad situation or is struggling, it is a staff members role to help them get through it. I have a quite happy personality, I like to have a joke, but I know when to stop. When I start something I like to finish it, or until I have the perfect outcome. I want to get to know a different side to the community, and get to meet new people. I would say I am a patient person - I am very respectful, calm and understanding. These qualities are vital to a staff member, in my opinion. Overall I am very mature for my age, I am always ready for any job. I am against favouritism, and I fully understand I cannot pick sides as a staff member, everyone is equal no matter who they are. I am a fairly calm and chill person and quite confident. In this job confidence is key, as it is in any other job. I love to talk to different people, I am not toxic nor disrespectful to anyone. I understand that some people can come across as toxic, but I keep myself calm and use my skill of knowing how to manage and communicate with different types of personalities.
How long have you played ChainCraft: I have played Chain for around 5-6 months now, but I joined the server in around early 2013 when I started playing Minecraft originally with IGinge, this was one of my first servers. I used to really enjoy the server but I took a break and recently I decided to play Soup again and I got back into the server. I think I am reasonably experienced for the staff job.
How active will you be: I am a very active player, I currently am working but am able to play still atleast 6-8 hours a day.
Do you know how to screenshare properly: Yes I do know how to screenshare. I have been screenshared personally myself multiple times and I have also screenshared other people on 2 other servers. I haven't screenshared in the past 5 months but I am willing to learn and catch up. I would not ban anyone without providing solid proof or out going a screenshare. I personally use AnyDesk to screenshare, because I find it the easiest for myself and the other player. I use BLSquad screenshare tool but I dont know if that is outdated or not. I am always willing to learn new things as a staff member.
Do you have a working mic: Yes I do have a decent working mic (Razer Kraken 7.1) and I also have a spare TurtleBeach mic which I use for my PS4 which I can use if my current mic faces any problems. I have access to TeamSpeak, Skype, Discord and Telegram, I am willing to download any other social media platform if needed.
Any extra info: My real name is Lewis and I was born on the 27th of February. I am a Graphics Designer, Forex Trader and I live in the United Kingdom. I have an interest in programming, gaming, economy and technology. In my spare time I like to trade Stocks and Foreign Exchange Currencies. I enjoy playing FootBall and playing sports outside. Thank you and I appreciate you for taking the time to read though my application. Kind Regards Lewis.
